10 Unique & Awesome Computer Mice

Source of picture.

I love customizing my computers. While it's usually the desktop or icons, the hardware that goes along with my computer can't be ignored! It seems as if the humble computer mouse is the computer peripheral with the most variety in customization. here's 10 unique, creative, and odd computer mice.

1. Finger Mouse

This is the smallest mouse I've seen. As you can see, it's about the size of a lighter. The front of the button acts as the left click, and the back of the button acts as the right click, with the scroll wheel on the side. I really liked the idea of this, until I realized I wouldn't be using the other four fingers for much anyway while on the computer, so why not use a normal sized mouse?

2. Blow Up Mouse

Here's an odd little mouse. It's a completely inflatable mouse. You blow it up, just as you would a air mattress or balloon. Unfortunately it's still a concept, and there's no mouse (that I know of) like this available at the moment.

3. 8-bit Pointer Hand

If you're a fan of 8-bit, or just like the old school pointer hand from the older windows computers, this is the mouse for you! Shaped like a hand, the scroll wheel is between the index and middle finger.

Get one for $19.99.

4. Razor mice - All of them!

Razor's Naga mouse, designed for MMO's

No mouse list would be complete without mentioning atleast one of Razor's many high end gaming mice. Considered by many to be the best manufacturer of gaming mice, they're mice are the best. Plus they look good! If you can't tell I'm somewhat biased. Check out their site if you'd like one.

5. Arrow Mouse

Here's a mouse shaped exactly like what you see on the screen. The sleek design is certainly appealing! I wonder how comfortable they would be though? If you want one, they can be bought for $9.95.

6. NES controller Mouse

Here's a do it yourself mouse for the retro gamers out there. Some fantastically awesome individual with to much spare time took the guts out of an old NES controller and inserted the internal components of an optical mouse. You can make one yourself, or wait for this NES mouse to hit the market.

7. The Real Finger Mouse

This is a very literal finger mouse, as in it sits on your finger. You point it at any surface(except glass) and it works! The two buttons are on the side facing your thumb, as is a scroll bar.

8. Steam Punk Mouse

Here's a unique steam punk themed mouse. See the little collection of "coal" in the middle there? It has LED lights below it that light up, giving the illusion that the mouse (true to steam punk form) is coal powered. The cage on the back end are made of copper, with the rest of the body being made of wood.

9. MadCatz Cyborg R.A.T 9 gaming mouse

Time to break out the big guns. This is the ideal mouse for those of you that want to customize your mouse as you see fit. You can swap out parts to change the size of the mouse, or change functions. It's designed as a high end gaming mouse, but I'd happily use it to play minesweeper! Want one?

10. Fish Computer Mouse

This is a cute little fish shaped mouse from mouse envy. They have a nice collection of cute, and unique novelty mice. This was personally my favourite, but there's plenty more on their site!

Bonus mouse! - First computer mouse ever!

This little pinnacle of ergonomics is the very first computer mouse to be invented. It was made by Douglas Engelbart in 1964, and "consisted of two gear-wheels positioned perpendicular to each other -- allowing movement on one axis." Also, it was made of wood!
